Easter is Sunday, April 5th, and we have begun our preparations to celebrate “The Victory” of Jesus. Each week, starting in March, we will look at each victory Jesus won in His ministry and on the cross to help us prepare our hearts for the celebration Easter deserves. It shouldn’t just be a holiday or even just a holy day, but a day of V_I_C_T_O_R_Y and rejoicing because of what Jesus won for us, allowing us to overcome this world, too! We will begin our Easter Celebrations on Sunday, March 29th, with Palm Sunday. Our children will be reenacting Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem as the crowds praised His name! We, too, will sing Hosanna to the King!
An Easter week devotional guide will be available to help us walk through each day of Jesus’ last week on earth. These aids help us keep our minds focused on the great price Jesus paid for us and on his teachings leading up to his death.
Maundy Thursday Thursday, April 2nd, is Maundy Thursday. A day of remembrance of the Last Supper of Jesus, when He instituted communion and called us to remember. Our doors will be open throughout the day and evening for communion. We invite you to come by, remember, and partake as He instructed us.
Procession of the Cross On Good Friday, April 3rd, we will join together in the Procession of the Cross through the streets of Advance bearing witness to Jesus’ arrest, beating, and crucifixion. People of all ages are invited to walk and even help carry the cross through town. We will meet at the Utility Building on South Street by 6:45 pm to begin at 7:00 pm and end with prayer at the church.
John 19: 17-18 17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
Easter Sonrise Service- Early in the morning on Sunday, April 5th, we will gather at 7:00 am for our Sonrise Service to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. This year, our youth will bring a light-and-music depiction of the moment when the stone was rolled away, the earth shook, and Jesus arose from the dead. We will sing praise to the Lord because He is risen!
Easter Celebration- Our Easter Celebration Worship will be held at 9:20 am on Sunday, April 5th. We will all gather together as a family and rejoice in Jesus’ victory over death, and the hope of our own resurrection and eternal life in Heaven. Easter is the most important day for a Christian because it was the day that Jesus brought us VICTORY!
