From Steve’s Desk:

Getting the perfect picture for our Christmas card has become quite an effort over the past few years in our family. Instead of choosing a good photo, we are now engaged in creating the perfect photo. Oh, it is fun; but how do you top last year’s? Or the year before? It does become a challenge to our creativity, but a fun challenge. Our daughter has been asking for weeks about what we will do for our photo. Well, it’s time – and I am still not sure what we are going to do. You’ll just have to wait and see.

Indecision is not a place I like to be for very long. I like for decisions to be made and actions taken; but sometimes I will put off making a decision if I am unsure about even the smallest of things. Often times, what I want and what I do are not the same. If you are like me, sometimes we end up letting circumstances, situations, time and others make our decision for us. Sometimes they all come out ok, but other times, we are left with regret.

As we approach Christmas, let us reflect on what we want. Do we want a hectic and hurried holiday? Do we want every minute consumed with stress? No! I’m sure we want more peace, more hope, more joy and more love in our lives. It isn’t just what we want; it is what we need! How do we get more? We have to decide and ask.

Jesus came that first Christmas to bring us the peace with God and the peace of God in all situations and circumstances. Jesus also brought us the hope of redemption and an eternity in Heaven. Jesus offers us a life of joy in the midst of this world. It is a life of His hope and His presence in our lives here now, and His promise for the future. He was the embodiment of God’s love for us, and then He demonstrated His love for us by dying on the cross.

If you want more peace, hope, joy and love this Christmas make the decision to seek it, accept it, and enjoy it! Don’t put this decision off.
