From Steve’s Desk...
For the past few weeks, I have been having problems with my computer with missing letters either when I am typing from the keyboard and when the computer is prompting me with messages. At first it was a minor annoyance, but now it is aggravating. The missing letters are causing me to have to decide what the missing letter is in order to understand the message. I’m having to use my brain, and I not happy about that! But, if I guess the wrong letter, it could change the message entirely. So, to communicate my message or to understand the message sent to me, I have to have all of the letters in each word in the entire communication. That is how it is with understanding God’s word sometimes. Sometimes we don’t have all of the information we need to fill in the blanks of what we do not know or understand. God’s Word is a letter of communication to us. It is a love letter, an instructional letter, a letter of warning, a letter of reprimand. It is so much more than we can fathom. In Paul’s second letter to Timothy we find these words, “16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” To be fully equipped, we must let God’s Word do its work, and we do ours to know it. Taking it as a complete message is so important, and that is a complete message of redemption. Though we don’t understand it all, we can find peace in knowing that God will reveal to us what we need when we need it. But, we have to be ready to receive it by reading it; studying it; meditating up on it; and most importantly, obeying it! When we don’t understand and we are missing even the smallest of detail, we can seek Him and He will reveal it in His time and in His way. By the way, I did some research and found that my missing letter problem is fixable with an update to my operating system. Now, to just learn how to do that – computers!!!!
