Mission Advance – I WAS MOVED!
Today, I got to be the witness of sincere gratitude. I delivered pies to one of our local firehouses to say thank you for the great sacrifices made in protecting our communities. I was able to talk with an officer of the house who was so appreciative of our gesture of thanks. He told me that this had been a busy couple of days for that particular firehouse. They had responded to a barn fire, a car accident, and an early morning house fire and all this during one 24-hour period and there was still time to go on the shift. I am not sure we fully understand what it takes for our safety 24 hours of the day. The pies were a hit. We took 6 assorted pies to one shift at five firehouses in our community where someone from our church or community is employed. I sure hope that each shift got to enjoy a little peace and a piece of pie! Thank YOU, Jesus! I was moved. This year’s MISSION ADVANCE was our biggest effort yet. We planned and executed 12 projects for our community and even found the generosity to help out with donations for food relief for Haiti after Hurricane Matthew. It is impossible to count the number of people who were touched by these projects. Those numbers are only known to God, but I was moved by the number of people who were moved to be involved to show their love for God in action and truth. I was truly moved watching my favorite Bible verse come to life before me. “Dear children, do not love in word or in tongue, but in action and truth.” I John 3:18. Thank you my friends for all of your efforts, your donations, your time, and your prayers for making this outreach program an opportunity to praise God. Thank YOU, ACCC! We were MOVED to love, to act, to give, to sacrifice, and to praise God for using us all!
